CITY OF RED LIGHTS OUT 29.11.2010

Category: News

City Of Red Lights, 3rd album of Lakeside X is out on 29.10.2010. A story of wandering through in-between worlds of life and death, a strange sinister dream co-produced by Tomas Sochurek, mixed by Paul Kendall and mastered by Moimir Papalescu.

Our lives are like a red curtained theatre. Everything is a delusion and falseness. Reality hovers over somewhere between, unveiled and unrecognized and we just stare at this absurd performance. We are attracted by shadows and phantoms, the invisible guides who suck the blood out of us, silently and unobtrusively, leading us like puppets on strings created from our passions and fears. We are like our own caricature not living the things we would like to, but the things that are shown to us by our own crooked mirrror. We create the audience of our own picturesque show, that seems to have no end.

LAKESIDE X announce new album release in November 2010

LAKESIDE X have announced that they will release their new album titled „CITY OF RED LIGHTS“ in November 2010, again at respected label X Production.
Three years since their highly acclaimed album „EXIT:NOWhere“, the Prague’s four are back in their best shape, with analog sounds, howling guitars and throbbing rhytms.
For the first time, the band teamed with producer Tomas Etien and respected sound engineer Paul Kendall, who gave the band the most urgent sound in their history.
The lyrics on the album are more open and sexually defiant. Seems that the hopelessness of the previous record is gone, but the darkness is present here, veiled under surface. How else, when the final song of the album is called “Last Day Of The World”?
“I wanted to place the story inside of the noir movie, like it was all a strange sinister dream performance in a theatre or a room with red curtains. It’s maybe David Lynch, maybe comic book, maybe noir story from in-between-worlds of life and death,” says frontman and author Janne Marvannen.
“Bloodflies”, the opening single from the album is out since July and the video for the song is being finalized and shall be out together with the album at the end of November.
A special release party shall take place on December 5 at Phenomen Club, Prague, with Paul Kendall and Olivia Louvel as the special guests.

NOTES I.

“I wanted to place the story inside of the noir movie, like it was all a strange sinister dream performance in a theatre or a room with red curtains. It’s maybe David Lynch, maybe comic book, maybe noir story from in-between-worlds of life and death. Many sounds are backwards, like you would wake up in a lucid dream on psychedelic drugs. It is a sort of a vampire cabaret of a modern age. It is sarcastic but not hopeless. There is still this dirty city outside the window, but you feel reconciliated with the fact that you are part of that dirt yourself.

There’s this city, it’s dark, in black and white. Except the red colour shines out of the shades. And there is always rain in the streets. Strings of water pouring down and the downtown mess touching your ears. Car horns, people arguing, somebody screams at each other. Do you feel love? It seems so distant. Pain. And loneliness. Waiting for redemption. Waiting for the rain to stop.”
